VueScan for Windows

VueScan is designed to replace the standard scanner interface with a richer interface that provides many additional features depending on the scanner model.

In most cases, the standard device driver has very limited options for adjusting scanning settings. Utilizing the often hidden features of your particular scanner, the software allows for flexible image processing, including advanced colour grading, multi-pass and batch scanning options, hardware exposure control, maximum colour depth and a choice of file formats to be saved.

Of great interest is the facility to save raw scanner data into a file and process it when the device is switched off, so there is no need to re-scan originals and it increases the life-span of the equipment.

VueScan is especially useful for transparencies (negatives, slides), because it contains information about colour properties of more than 150 types of films. First of all, it concerns the mask of colour negatives, which can vary greatly from one film type to another and from one manufacturer to another. The program provides a direct selection of the mask from a list of commonly used films, as well as the possibility to manually adjust the colour components of the masking layer.

User-defined settings can be saved in a special file, allowing the creation of individual profiles for each type of job.

The scanner automatically removes defects using an infrared (IR) channel and performs multi-pass scanning with subsequent averaging, which suppresses noise from the scanner. There are filters for grain reduction, indistinct masking and removal of stray tint on the original. Manual dynamic range and gradation characteristics correction (independently for the R, G, and B channels) are available.

VueScan supports over 500 scanner models and RAW files from 185 digital camera models.
